The first-generation F-Series pickup (known as the Ford Bonus-Built) was introduced in 1948 as a more contemporary design replacement for the previous pre-war Ford pickup line. This very original F1 boasts a period correct triple carb flathead V8 with some upgrades that make it a pleasure to drive.
With only two owners from new, this amazingly restored, rust free, Wisconsin truck is an excellent example of the iconic Ford F1. All sheet metal is original and rust free, no detail was left undone.
Using this as a starting point the current owner has thoroughly uprated the vehicle to modern standards, including a 12 volt electrical system, tilt column with column shift and electric fans to help keep the transmission and radiator cool in any traffic from freeways to cruise nights.
The original engine has been replaced with a correct 21-stud flathead using period triple Stromberg 94 carburetors with progressive linkage, a triple deuce Edlebrock intake manifold and Offenhauser cylinder heads with an MSD distributor. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a Ford AOD overdrive transmission.
Chassis Engineering front and rear suspension, cross member, front sway bar and spindles were used along with a new Ford 9” 3.50:1 rear end supplied by Speedway Motors.
The truck sets on Circle custom billet solid racing wheels, (18X9.5” front, 18X11” rear) and 18” Continental Extreme Contact tires.A custom exhaust system from Wholesale Performance Muffler, 4-wheel Wilwood power disc brakes and Hi-torque reduction drive starter round out the list of upgrades.
